Thames Water is back for Monday 6th Jan!

322 bus

Latest: Thames Water plans have changed and there will be no temporary bus stops in Norwood Road as mentioned below.

Roadworks and disruption will return to West Norwood late on Sunday 5th January at 10pm till June 2020. See attached letter.

Robson Road will be closed except for left turning traffic. So the northbound 322 (to Herne Hill & Clapham) will have to take the long way round via Rosendale Road, the south circular and back to West Norwood along Lancaster Avenue where there will be a temporary bus stop. Bus stops R and W on Robson Road will be closed for 6 months.

Chestnut Road will be closed at its junction with Norwood Road until 14th February. The vegetable stall will be stay put (but will first be taking a few days holiday). Lansdowne Hill will be partially closed at its junction with Norwood Road.  Leigham Vale will remain closed too.

Bus stops on Norwood Road will change temporarily. The ones outside Sainsbury’s &  Efe’s will move a bit north to Greggs & Knowles.  The one outside former-Barclays/Decorators Merchants will be closed.

Thames Water are relaying a modern water main under Norwood Rd as part of a £14m project. Hopefully the work will be completed on time in 6 months by June 2020. Residents  & businesses can pop in and meet the Thames Water team at the Robson Road portacabins  during office hours.

In the meantime please report any leaks in other local streets direct to Thames Water  telephone 0800 714 614 or https://www2.thameswater.co.uk/leak/

Changes to Norwood Road

Harpenden Road junction

Harpenden Road junction

After a series of workshops the community-led Streetworks project has drawn up detailed design plans to change and improve Norwood Road.

The plans include improving Station Rise in front of Tulse Hill station, widening the east pavement between Chestnut Road and Chatsworth Way, options on parking,  the Norwood Road entrance to Harpenden Rd becoming one way to allow for a new zebra crossing over Norwood Road, a diagonal crossing at York Hill/Lancaster Avenue and  levelling the side roads with the pavement at their junction with Norwood Road.

You can comment on the designs until Tues 19th July at:  http://www.lambeth.gov.uk/consultations/norwood-road

But why not visit the exhibitions on Saturday 25th June 2.30-5pm at the West Norwood Health & Leisure Centre in Devane Way SE27 0DF  or Wednesday 6th July 6.30-9pm at the Old Library 14 Knights Hill SE27 0HY ?

There is also a chance to comment on the designs at the West Norwood Feast market on July 3rd and the Country Show on 16th & 17th July.

The improvements will be funded by Transport for London and works should start in  Autumn 2016.  See our earlier posts:  9/2/16 19/1/16 and 3/6/15
