Lambeth Heritage Festival Sept 2023

This year the Lambeth Local  History Fair will be held at West Norwood Library & Picture House SE27 9JX to  kick off a month long programme of 40 events looking at Lambeth’s rich history. The Local History Fair is on  Saturday 2nd Sept 10am to 4pm with stalls, talks, walks & free films. And a chance to contribute to Their Finest Hour digital family history project.

London Open House 2018

Cheviot Gardens

The weekend of 22nd  & 23rd September is London Open House – a chance to visit great architecture for free throughout London. In West Norwood we can visit:

Saturday

Cheviot Gardens 36 Cheviot Rd SE27 0SU 1pm to 5pm

36 St Faith’s Road SE21 8JD 10am to 5pm. Tours on the  hour 11am to 4pm

The Clockworks 6 Nettlefold Place, SE27 0JW 10am to 6pm . Hourly tours

West Norwood Cemetery Norwood High Street SE27 9JU 1pm to 5pm  Tours at 2pm, 2.30pm, 3pm meet inside main cemetery gate

Sunday

South London Botanical Institute 323 Norwood Road, SE24 9AQ 1pm-to-5pm

Crystal Palace Subway Crystal Palace Parade SE19 1LG 10am to 5pm

Open House weekend 21st and 22nd September

Explore London’s architecture & urban design for free and visit buildings not normally open to the public.

In West Norwood these buildings are open to the public over the weekend:

  • Julians Primary School 16 Wolfington Road SE27 0JF – Saturday and Sunday 10am to 1pm tours every 30 minutes
  • South London Botanical Institute 323 Norwood Road SE24 9AQ  – Sunday 1pm to 5pm
  • South London Theatre 2a Norwood High Street SE27 9NS  – Saturday  Sunday 1pm t o5pm
  • The Clock House 5 Chestnut Road SE27 9EZ  – Sunday tours at 10am, 12noon, 2pm, 4pm
  • The Clockworks  Nettlefold Place SE27 0JW  – Sunday tours 11am, 1pm, 3pm, 4.30pm
  • Warren Apartments 8 Station Rise SE27 9BW  – Saturday 10am to 5pm
  • West Norwood  Cemetery & Greek Chapel , Norwood High Street SE27 9JU – Sunday tours 2pm, 2.30pm, 3pm meet inside gates.
