The south circular – Christchurch Road & Thurlow Park Road is proposed as the southern boundary of a new Ultra Low Emission Zone – ULEZ in October 2021. To have your say by 28th February on this proposal see: https://consultations.tfl.gov.uk/environment/air-quality-consultation-phase-3b/?cid=airquality-consultation
In a ULEZ to avoid paying a £12.50 daily charge diesel cars & vans will have to meet the Euro 6 standard for NOx and particulates; petrol cars & vans will have to meet Euro 4 NOx; and motorcycles & scooters will have to meet Euro 3 NOx . The daily charge for lorries and buses exceeding Euro 1V is £100.
A central London ULEZ will start operating in just over a year’s time in April 2019. It will cover exactly the same area as the Congestion Charge Zone and the current T-charge zone which is charging £10 a day for vehicles not meeting the Euro 4/V1 standards.
The Low Emission Zone (LEZ) across most of Greater London 24/7 has been operating since 2008. It charges the most polluting heavy diesel vehicles but London’s air is not clean enough – hence the need for Ultra Low Emission Zones.
