School’s Out: Summer Holiday Activity Programme

holiday aEvery year Lambeth organises and funds a fantastic Holiday Activity Programme HAP and a Summer University SU for children and young people in the borough. The vast majority of the activities are free and HAP caters for children from 8-15 whilst the SU has courses for young people aged 11-19. Activities take place all over the borough, and the HAP includes opportunities to learn African dance, bag making and creative writing, or to go to ‘Grooveschool’, become an online journalist or an expert in the decoration of cupcakes. Summer University courses include Skiing, Soccer School, a Summer Reading Challenge and a chance to dance with Ballet Rambert.

You can download the Summer University brochure and the Holiday Activity Programme. They include details about dozens of activities, and also have a useful list of all the 1 o’clock clubs, adventure playgrounds and youth centres in Lambeth along with other provision. Have a look and publicise to young people and families you know. Register early as places may get booked up quickly.

Play Streets

A play street

A play street

Children love to play out close to home. Lambeth’s Play Street scheme allows neighbours to close off their street to traffic for 3 hours a month (or week ) so children can play under adult supervision.
