Sowing wild flowers in Tivoli Park

Help is needed in Tivoli Park on Sunday 17th June at 12noon. The Friends of Tivoli Park have been given a big bag of wildflower seeds by the council to sow on the mound – the raised ground you see beyond the basketball court, by the ( currently dried-up) water feature. Will you help make this happen?

The first step is to prepare the ground by digging out some squares of turf, turning over the soil underneath and removing any weeds etc. It’s not too difficult – each square only takes about 10-15 minutes. Please email FriendsofTivoliPark@yahoo.co.uk if you can help on Sunday 17 June – and if you can bring a spade. Tivoli Park is between Knights Hill and Tivoli Road behind Furneaux Avenue and Dassett Road.

Later In July local people will be invited to re-weed the squares and sow the seeds. For details see http://friendsoftivolipark.blogspot.co.uk/

Local councillors have asked Arriva to improve its  grotty flower beds around the West Norwood bus garage. Contact us to support our campaign ( jmeldrum@lambeth.gov.uk) Perhaps we can persuade Arriva to plant wild flowers in and look after our bees & hoverflies too!
