Avenue Park Road

Developers submitted a planning application  to build 47 homes and small business premises on the disused land between the railway line, Thurlow Park Road and Avenue Park Road approximately up to Maley Avenue. The height of the proposed development varies between three, four, five  and six storeys.

Iceni , planning consultants for Mayfair 500 , the developers, organised a public meeting in April at Elmgreen School . Following comments by residents at the meeting the plans have changed slightly. To see the latest plans use the public access database on Lambeth council’s web site:   http://planning.lambeth.gov.uk/online-applications/ and type in planning ref 13/021310/FUL .

Any comments can be emailed to planning@lambeth.gov.uk  quoting ref 13/021310/FUL  . Please also copy in Cllr Ann Kingsbury at Akingsbury@lambeth.gov.uk . Ann has asked for any recommendation to approve this planning application to go to the Planning Applications Committee. The decision should be made before mid September.

The plan to terminate the Thameslink  train service from Wimbledon to St Pancras at Blackfriars has been scrapped at the last minute! This important local service will now continue to run through Tulse Hill station – thanks to the efforts of  train passengers, Norwood Forum ,local councillors and local MPs who campaigned against the reduction in service.

Labour councillor  Ann Kingsbury said “This is fantastic news. Good train services are vital for the future of West Norwood.  Getting rid of the through service would have seriously inconvenienced many passengers. We will continue to campaign for better transport links for West Norwood.”
