Councillor Jackie Meldrum said: “We’ve had lots of interest in the naming of this brilliant new centre. Now we want as many people as possible to have their final say. The health and leisure centre is really taking shape now and once completed it will give West Norwood a huge boost. As well as the health benefits for local people from having a sports centre so close to home, we expect to see benefits to trade and local businesses from those using the centre.”
The development off Knight’s Hill, opposite West Norwood Rail Station, is due to open in late spring 2014. The new centre will have a 25m swimming pool, 100 station gym, dance studio, local GP practice, dentistry services, a Lambeth council customer service point and a community room.
