ID needed to use Recycling Centre

wp_20160807_13_20_07_richFrom Saturday 1st October use of the Recycling Centre in Vale St SE27 9PA  will be limited to Lambeth residents.

The Centre costs the council £286k per year to run & dispose of the recycling materials.  The disposal cost for wood is £70 per tonne and £37 per tonne for green garden waste.

Its estimated that at least 20% of the current users of the Recycling Centre are not Lambeth residents and that nearly 10% of are commercial traders.

From 1st October 2016 only residents able to produce ID with a Lambeth address, eg a council tax bill or driving licence, will be permitted to use the Recycling Centre.

The Recycling Centre is open 8am to 5pm weekends and 7.30am to 4.30pm Mondays, Thursdays & Fridays. Its closed on Tuesdays & Wednesdays.

    What a load of rubbish! I live on the Lambeth / Croydon border, the tip is about a quarter of the distance as the Croydon one but they want me to drive the extra miles? Great for the environment and congestion. Lol

    The disposal cost for wood is £70 per tonne and £37 per tonne for green garden waste. Wood can be used as fuel and garden waste turned in to compost. I think some auditing needs to be done on those numbers. They should be working out how the facility can make money then invite people from other boroughs to use it.
