Lambeth Heritage Festival Sept 2023

This year the Lambeth Local  History Fair will be held at West Norwood Library & Picture House SE27 9JX to  kick off a month long programme of 40 events looking at Lambeth’s rich history. The Local History Fair is on  Saturday 2nd Sept 10am to 4pm with stalls, talks, walks & free films. And a chance to contribute to Their Finest Hour digital family history project.

Summer of Food and Fun

This summer’s  holiday programme has over 50 fun physical activities to choose from  – and food is included.  Summer of Food & Fun is aimed at local families with children & young people aged 4 to 16  and eligible for free school meals.

October is Black History month!

This year Lambeth libaries and others are putting on a fantastic wide range of events – online and face to face – so there is something for everyone. Check out the brochure and book through eventbrite.

In West Norwood there are two children events in West Norwood Library SE27 9JX at half term:

  • Tuesday 26th October at 2.30pm a workshop with Venessa Taylor author of Baller Boys
  • Saturday 30th October at 2pm Serlina Boyd talks about her new book – Cocoa Girl Awesome Hair

And between 10am and 5pm Saturday 9th October a pop-up market of art, fashion jewellery, hair & skin care in the library – cinema community hall.

Our local councillor Sonia Winifred, Lambeth cabinet member for equalities & culture  says: “Please take this wonderful opportunity to learn about and celebrate African Caribbean Heritage and culture which is influencing and enriching our lives”

Flower show 4th September

This year the free flower show is back  – in person  – at St Lukes church SE27 0HY. Lots of lovely flowers but also home baked cakes, art & handicrafts . If you are up for a challenge why not enter one of the many categories. The deadline to apply is Wednesday 1st Sept – 15p per entry.

Feast is back at Easter!

West Norwood Feast is back again in 2021 on Sunday April 4th between 10am and 4pm. The stalls will be hot & cold food stalls only: Food Fair stalls will be spaced out safely in St Lukes church gardens SE27 0DT and the Fresh n Green stalls in the Village Green around the Leisure Centre in Devane Way SE27 0DF.

Next month Feast is hoping, lockdown rules permitting,  to open its full range of stalls in the early May bank holiday weekend – Sunday 2nd May.

Shop local for Christmas!

There will be over 45 stalls at the West Norwood Christmas markets this Saturday 12th Dec 11am to 3pm. Visit the stalls centred around Norwood High St beside St Luke’s church SE27 0DT.  There’s something for everyone!

Black History month 2020

October is Black History month and this year Lambeth Libraries have drawn up a brilliant programme of mainly online activities.

There is something for everyone in the programme – just check out the brochure and book the sessions in advance that you want to attend here.

Feast is back on Sunday

West Norwood Feast markets are back for real on 2nd August this Sunday 10am to 4pm. Come along and support our local independent businesses.

Things have changed around a little since last year and  Feast is now on three sites: Food Fair at St Luke’s Church ,  Artisans’ Market at Chatworth Way  and Village Green in Devane Way SE27 0DF . Due to social distancing there is no picnicing in St Luke’s Gardens.
